How are the required marks calculated?

Required Marks = ⌈(Target% / 100) × Total Marks⌉. The ceiling function (⌈⌉) means fractional marks are rounded up to the next whole number — because you can't score 0.8 of a mark, you need to reach the next integer. For 60% in 200 marks: ⌈120⌉ = 120.

What does 'marks still needed' mean?

Once you've already secured some marks (e.g. in a completed paper or section), Marks Still Needed = max(0, Required Marks − Marks Obtained So Far). It tells you exactly how many more you need from the remaining papers or sections.

How does the achievability check work?

If you also enter the marks available in the remaining paper(s), the calculator tells you whether the target is still mathematically reachable: achievable = (Marks Still Needed ≤ Marks Available Ahead). If it says no, the target cannot be reached even if you score full marks on everything left.

Why does the formula use ceiling (rounding up)?

Because exam marks are whole numbers (or at most one decimal place). If the raw required marks come out to 119.2, you'd need to score at least 120 — not 119 — to reach the target percentage. The ceiling prevents underestimating what's needed.
