What is an Exam Age Eligibility Calculator?

Government recruitment exams — SSC, UPSC, railways, state police, and public sector banks among others — set minimum and maximum age limits as on a specific cutoff date, not as on today. This calculator checks your date of birth against those limits and gives a direct Eligible or Not Eligible answer, along with your exact age on that cutoff date, instead of leaving you to work out the comparison by hand.

Why use an eligibility calculator instead of the age calculator?

A plain age calculator answers "how old am I?" — this tool answers the question candidates actually have: "am I eligible for this recruitment?" Frequently Asked Questions

This calculator treats both the minimum and maximum age as inclusive: you pass the minimum the moment you turn that age, and you still pass the maximum right up through the day you turn it — you only fail once you're a full year past it. This matches how most Indian government exam notifications apply their stated age limits, but always check your specific notification's exact wording.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • The cutoff date usually isn't the exam date. Government recruitment notifications almost always specify a separate age-reckoning date (often 1st January or 1st August of a given year) — using the exam date or today's date instead of the notified cutoff date is the single most common eligibility mistake.
  • Category relaxation isn't applied automatically here. SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-Serviceman relaxations vary by recruiting body and change between notifications. Add the relaxation years to the maximum age yourself before entering it, based on your specific notification.
  • "Not more than X years" and "less than X years" aren't the same thing. Read the exact wording in your notification — this calculator treats the maximum age as inclusive (you're still eligible on the day you turn the maximum age), which matches how most Indian government exams apply it, but always cross-check against the specific notification's wording.
