How the applicable fee is determined

Government exam fee schedules list a default fee for unreserved candidates and reduced or zero fees for specific categories. When you belong to multiple categories, you pay the lowest applicable fee — not an average, not the sum, just the minimum.

For each category you select, the engine looks up that category's fee in the schedule. Categories not listed pay the default fee. The result is the minimum across all your categories.

fee[cat] = categoryFees[cat] ?? defaultFee
applicableFee = min(fee[cat] for all your categories)

Frequently Asked Questions

It checks the fee for every category you belong to, then applies the lowest one. If you're Female and OBC, it looks up Female's fee and OBC's fee separately and gives you whichever is lower. For SSC exams, Female is exempt (₹0) and OBC pays the full fee (₹100), so the Female rate wins.
