Your CGPA is credit-weighted, not a simple average of your SGPAs. A semester with more credits pulls the overall CGPA more strongly toward its own SGPA. Just adding up your SGPAs and dividing by the number of semesters gives the wrong answer unless every semester happens to carry equal credits.
