SGPA to CGPA Calculator
Education CalculatorsAdd each semester's SGPA and credits to calculate your overall, cumulative CGPA.
Semesters with more credits have more weight in your cumulative CGPA.
Worked Example — 3 semesters, credit-weighted
Frequently Asked Questions
No. CGPA is a credit-weighted average — each semester's SGPA is multiplied by that semester's credit load, summed up, then divided by your total credits across all semesters. If your credits are the same every semester, this happens to equal a simple average, but that's a special case, not the rule.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Your CGPA is credit-weighted, not a simple average of your SGPAs. A semester with more credits pulls the overall CGPA more strongly toward its own SGPA. Just adding up your SGPAs and dividing by the number of semesters gives the wrong answer unless every semester happens to carry equal credits.
- This calculates CGPA, not a percentage. If you need your CGPA converted to a percentage (or the other way around), use the Percentage ↔ CGPA Converter — this tool only combines semester SGPAs into an overall CGPA.
