Common Mistakes to Avoid
- 22K rate isn't simply 24K rate × 0.916 — enter the rate your source actually quoted. 24K and 22K gold rates are published independently by jewellers and rate sources, not as a fixed ratio of each other. Always enter the specific rate quoted for the purity you're calculating, rather than deriving one from another.
- GST applies to gold value plus making charges combined, not gold alone. Indian jewellery bills charge GST on the full subtotal (gold value + making charges), which is what this calculator does — computing GST on the gold value alone would understate the final price.
